2025 INDUCTEE SHELBY FULLER-LARSON: Nebraska’s Queen of BMX

Shelby Fuller-Larson’s BMX journey began in 2004 at just five years old, racing at Star City BMX in Lincoln, Nebraska. Inspired by her older brother and backed by a family legacy of speed — her dad, Randy Fuller, and uncle were dirt track racers at Eagle Raceway — Shelby quickly showed she had racing in her blood.

Nicknamed “Slammin’ Shelby” by her dad, after sprint car legend Sammy Swindell, she became a crowd favorite early on. Her sweet, blue-eyed smile hid a fierce competitor who could beat nearly anyone — boys or girls — on any given day.

By 2005, Shelby’s dominance extended beyond Nebraska, winning the Redline Cup Finals in Topeka and finishing 2nd at the ABA Grand Nationals. Her talent caught the attention of Factory Prime Redline, who signed her for 2006 and 2007 — years that brought more Redline Cup titles, podiums, and her first national win at the Dixie Land Nationals in Georgia.

From 2008 through 2010, Shelby joined a new local factory team led by Anthony Chambers and Brian Feregrino, adding more national victories — including a memorable hometown win at the Cornhusker Nationals. She continued racing with top-tier teams like Pit Stop Bike Shop and Nowear Extreme Rider, coming heartbreakingly close to victory at the 2011 Grands, finishing a photo-finish second to Amanda Van-Ogle — her own “Daytona 500” moment.

In 2012, Shelby joined Factory Young Guns out of Missouri, collecting more national wins, Gold Cup titles, and NAG finishes. By 2016, she joined Cycle Works, a local shop team that became her racing family. That same year, she captured another Gold Cup #1 on her home track at Star City BMX.

Nearly two decades after her first race, Shelby staged a comeback in 2023, flying cross-country to Virginia on a red-eye to qualify for the 2024 UCI World Championships — and she won all three qualifying rounds. In 2024, she achieved her dream of racing at Worlds in Rock Hill, South Carolina, marking a career highlight.

With 369 career wins, 15 state #1 titles, 10 Gold/Redline Cups, 17 national wins, and 8 Grands mains, Shelby Fuller-Larson stands as Nebraska’s most accomplished BMX racer — male or female. Today, she channels that same fearless drive as a Lincoln firefighter, proving that whether on the track or in the community, Shelby continues to inspire others to #belikeshelby.
