2025 INDUCTEE LAHSAAN KOBZA

Few riders have blended BMX racing and freestyle with the style, skill, and originality of Lahsaan Kobza. His journey began in 2000 at Star City BMX in Lincoln, Nebraska, where his natural talent and competitive drive quickly set him apart. Racing for local teams like Honker Hanger and sponsors including Revolution Bike Shop, JBL, Phantom/OnTrac/Intense, Formula, and Redman Yamaha, Lahsaan rose through the ranks to become a six-time ABA World Champion, a rare achievement in the sport.

Known for his explosive speed, precise bike handling, and calm confidence under pressure, Lahsaan earned respect across the Midwest and beyond. By the time he reached A Pro status, it was clear his dedication and talent placed him among the elite in BMX racing.

But BMX for Lahsaan was more than racing—it was self-expression. Inspired by a poster of freestyle legend Shaun Butler, he transitioned into freestyle riding, teaching himself tricks, refining his balance, and developing a style all his own. His racing background gave him unmatched bike control, speed, and flow, which became hallmarks of his freestyle riding.

Over the years, Lahsaan became a fixture in professional freestyle, riding for influential brands like Subrosa, The Shadow Conspiracy, Vans, and Casual BMX Shop. His film parts, including “What Could Go Wrong?”, “Night Moves with Lahsaan Kobza”, and “JIB-PAN” in Tokyo, showcased his smooth, technical, and effortless street riding. Fellow riders and fans consistently praise his style as natural and fluid, a product of years of discipline and creativity.

Even as his freestyle career took him around the globe, Lahsaan never forgot his Nebraska roots. Star City BMX and the local racing scene instilled in him control, respect for the bike, and a strong sense of community—values that continue to define his riding today.

In 2024, he joined the Casual BMX Shop Pro Team, continuing to inspire a new generation of riders, both racers and freestylers. From the starting gate in Lincoln to international acclaim, Lahsaan Kobza embodies the full spectrum of BMX — competition, creativity, and community. His induction into the Nebraska BMX Hall of Fame honors a lifetime of dedication, innovation, and influence, proving that no matter how far he’s ridden, his roots remain right here in the Cornhusker State.
