2012 INDUCTEE KEVIN STUDY

Began Racing in 1978. Lincoln Schwinn Team Rider.

Kevin Study began his BMX racing career in 1978 at the age of 12. He attended his first race with his brother and a neighbor at the Northeast YMCA BMX Track in Lincoln, Nebraska. He continued to enjoy racing and with the help of his parents was soon racing every weekend in Lincoln, Omaha, York, Crete, Beatrice, Council Bluffs and Waverly. In addition it wasn’t uncommon for them to take weekend trips to Iowa, Kansas and Missouri for larger events. Kevin was initially sponsored by his parents then later by Dietricht’s Schwinn, Lincoln Schwinn, A’me Grips and Co-Factory Schwinn. While on Lincoln Schwinn he was part of a dominate team in the mid 1980’s winning numerous Team and individual titles throughout the Midwest. In the late 1970’s and into the 1980’s Kevin, his brother Jeff and the rest of the Lincoln Schwinn riders really helped establish Nebraska BMX as one of the premiere Midwest states to race BMX. While the older Nebraska riders were winning in 16 Expert and PRO, the Study’s and their Lincoln Schwinn team were tearing up the younger classes and winning team trophies everywhere they raced.

Kevin briefly returned to BMX in 2003 and 2004 racing in the 36-40 Cruiser Class. Kevin was inducted into the Nebraska BMX Hall of Fame on August 18th, 2012.
