IN MEMORY OF 2010 INDUCTEE RANDY GIBSON

Randy Gibson was an original member of the Freewheelin’ BMX Race Team in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was a pioneer in the sport during the early days of Bicycle Motocross racing. He helped build and raced at the first BMX track in Nebraska – Yankee Hill BMX under the National Bicycle Association (NBA) sanction. He also raced in the American Bicycle Association (ABA) PRO Class during the 1979 – 1980 seasons. Randy was inducted into the Nebraska BMX Hall of Fame on August 21st, 2010.

On Saturday, September 23 2017, Randy Gibson was killed by a motorist, who was driving while under the influence. At the time of the crash, Randy was en route to meet his wife, Christy, who was waiting on the Homestead Trail to ride together back to Lincoln.

Randy was a dedicated father, husband, and passionate cycling advocate. His kindness, quick genuine smiles, and friendly waves as he pedaled past will be sorely missed. He leaves a permanent void in our community and in our hearts.
