2011 INDUCTEE CHRIS ROWLETTE

Chris Rowlette began his BMX racing career in 1981 at age 10 at the legendary Gnarlsbad BMX track in Omaha, Nebraska. He was a pioneer in the sport during the early days of Bicycle Motocross racing.

Chris, along with his father Jim Rowlette, volunteered many hours at the Gnarlsbad BMX track. Then in 1988, Chris helped his dad build and operate the Bellevue, Nebraska track and a few years later another track in Papillion, Nebraska.

Chris set his sights on Professional BMX racing in the American Bicycle Association (ABA) PRO Class at races throughout the Midwest and coast to coast. Chris was sponsored by a number of bike shop and factory teams. He was the Number One Cruiser Racer in Nebraska in 1998 and 1999.

In 2002 Chris helped design the Direct Link BMX frame and rode for the Direct Link Factory team, winning a string of national events in the 28 & Over Expert class. Chris also competed in the ABA Vet Pro class. He continues his BMX racing and contributions to the sport of BMX to this day. Chris was inducted into the Nebraska BMX Hall of Fame on August 27th, 2011.
