Dave Smith was an original member of the Mr. Bike BMX Race Team from Lincoln, Nebraska. He was a pioneer in the sport during the early days of Bicycle Motocross racing. He raced at and helped build the first BMX track in Nebraska – Yankee Hill BMX under the National Bicycle Association (NBA) sanction. He also raced in the American Bicycle Association sanction. Dave was inducted into the Nebraska BMX Hall of Fame on August 21st, 2010.

Dave was one of the older riders on the Mr. Bike Team and was part of the core group of high school age riders to start the Mr. Bike Team and Yankee Hill track. That group included Doug Olson, Todd Fauen and Larry Woodruff.

Dave was known as one the best jumpers on the Mr. Bike Team. His fearless riding style made him a threat at any track.

Dave moved with his family to the Minneapolis, Minnesota area in 1978 where he continued to race and contributed to the early BMX scene in Minnesota.
